Clermont-Ferrand has organized a retrospective with Spanish shorts from the last 20 years and others from the ECAM and the former Official Film School.

The Clermont-Ferrand Festival will offer a retrospective of Spanish short films with more than 60 works.

The 44th edition of begins on January 28 will be held from January 28 to February 5. This year the festival has organised a retrospective with projections that focus on one country. This year the guest country is Spain.

The retrospective has 9 programs of 90 minutes each. In total, the festival will screen around 60 short films, a small sample of some outstanding moments of thelast twenty years.

Cuatro bloques

The retrospective is divided into several sections. In "El Foco", 28 films from the last 20 years will be shown, with fundamental and acclaimed works such as 'A story for the Modlins', by Sergio Oskman; 'Montaña en Sombra', by Lois Patiño; 'Éramos pocos', by Borja Cobeaga, 'Alumbramiento', by Eduardo Chapero-Jackson or 'Los Desheredados', by Laura Ferrés. The Clermont-Ferrand organization has announced that most of the directors of this block will be present at the festival.

Within the retrospective, there will be space for an invited film school. With two short film programs, the chosen school was the School of Cinematography and Audiovisual of the Community of Madrid (ECAM).).

In another section, called Collections, and carried out in collaboration with Filmoteca Españolathere will be a program with clippings of short films by the great names of Spanish cinema from the Spanish cinema from the Official Film School of the 1950s and 1960s. Carlos Saura.

In another section, there are two more playful projections. Ciné-piscinewith a night of immersive movies; Cine Fantasía Español and that the organization targets "night owls."

Beyond short films

Two photography exhibitions will complete the retrospective of Spain. The work of Alberto García-Alix and the series of portraits of Spanish filmmakers by Óscar Fernández Orengo.In addition, García-Alixwill be part of the jury for the Labo section. The filmmaker Borja Cobeaga will be part of the international jury.

Finally, there will also be space for Spanish gastronomy at the French festival. The organisers will open a shop with products from the country in Maison de la Culture lobby and a Spanish menu signed by an Asturian chef
