Premios Goya

The Academy celebrates the quality of Spanish cinema by awarding the Goya Awards to the best professionals in each of the technical and creative specialties. Throughout its history, the Academy has recognized with the Goya, or with its nomination, the work of technicians, anonymous professionals for the general public, as well as great Spanish and foreign stars.

Directors such as Carlos Saura, Fernando Trueba, José Luis Garci, Pedro Almodóvar, Álex de la Iglesia, Guillermo del Toro, J.A. Bayona or Amenábar, actors like Javier Bardem, Benicio del Toro, Sergi López, Viggo Mortensen or Antonio Banderas, actresses like Penélope Cruz, Rachel Weisz, Nicole Kidman, Victoria Abril, Paz Vega, Verónica Forqué, Salma Hayek, Juliette Binoche or Carmen Maura , and other professionals of great international projection such as the composer Alberto Iglesias, or the director of photography Javier Aguirresarobe, among many others, figure in the history of these awards.

In the same annual ceremony, the Goya of Honor is awarded, an award for the work of a filmmaker of any specialty, which is decided by the Board of Directors and which recognizes a lifetime of dedication to cinema.
